The Syrian Uprising

2524171-394229269

Began in March of 2011 in Syria, initially calling for reform and then for a transition to democracy. Millions of Syrians peacefully protested in the streets where bare chests were met with bullets and unlawful arrests. As the uprising went on, the regime of Bashar Al-Assad backed by Iran and Russia increasingly used conventional weapons, besiegement, chemical weapons, and mass displacement to deny the Syrian people their rights.
