Jinan Mathi was a 49-year old activist who was part of an activist group that gave medical care to demonstrators. Mathi was gunned down on January 21, 2021 in Basra by the Death Squads in an SUV as she came back home from protests in Basra. 5 people including at least one other local activist were wounded in the shooting, while Madhi suffered gunshot wounds leading to her death.
