Ahmed Hassan is an Iraqi reporter and journalist, who used to cover the October 2019 “Tishreen Movement” protests in Iraq. As part of a campaign by Iranian-backed armed actors to silence journalists and other influential actors, Hassan suffered an assassination attempt only a few hours after the funeral of Ehab al-Wazni on May 10, 2021.

Hassan  was targeted in front of his home by masked gunmen from the “Death Squad”. Hassan was in intensive care after receiving “two bullets in the head and one in the shoulder.” 

Local authorities in Diwaniya have opened an investigation into the attack. However, no significant action has been taken ever since.
