Rashad Hodayfa was a Syrian human rights activist during the beginning of the Syrian Revolution in 2011. The Assad Regime arrested 20-year-old Rashad, alongside his older brother, Bashir, younger sister Nour, and maternal cousin, Omar Alshogre, on November 16, 2012, at his home in Baniyas.

 

After the capture, they were taken to the Military Intelligence of central Tartus, where they were held, investigated, and tortured for ten days in solitary confinement. After that, Rashad was transferred to Damascus’ Military Intelligence Directorate Branch 291. Then, he was transferred to Branch 215 with his brother and cousin. Branch 215, known as the “branch of slow death,” is alleged to be responsible for torturing and killing a large number of detainees. After a few months of imprisonment in Branch 215, Rashad passed away after suffering extreme torture on March 15, 2013.
